Ian Morrison, CEO, Hagen & Co. US
“I do this work for the impact I see it having on people; our people, the people working in the plants of our clients, the people running our clients organizations. Dramatic and tangible change whether in profitability or the number of times you need to put on a chemical suit in the heat of summer to clean out the reaction vessel can really change your life. I understand the trust our clients put in us by allowing us to share in that feeling.”
At Work:
Ian is responsible for all aspects of running our business in the US. He joined Hagen in 1996 as a consultant, becoming a Business Unit Manager in the UK office before being transferred to the US. He was appointed CEO in the US in 2007. He has helped our clients achieve results they thought impossible in a wide range of industries: textiles, chemicals, tobacco, vehicles, food and drink, paper, personal care.
Education and Career History:
Ian holds an MEng. in Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. Before joining Hagen & Co, Ian worked in operations for International Paints and for a joint venture between the Magna and Kansei Automotive companies.
Life:
“My wife and I love to sail competitively – bringing together boat speed, crew coordination, understanding of the rules and changing wind conditions is a lifelong challenge. The US office location is ideal for lovers of the water and we are active members of the International One Design fleet here in Marblehead. On an IOD sailing is a team effort with four to five people involved and we love the process of learning and improving during and after every race. When we are not sailing we are “hands on” with the renovation of our home. And of course, living away from Scotland, family visits are a big part of our lives.”
